Fair response. OTOH, it's not normal for me to have to make manual
modprobe.conf entries when installing a redhat OS. Will contemplate
the implications overall. Thank you.

Agreed. And that's a packaging problem. The rpm should have udev
awareness added to it so the "usual" device magic is done, even though
the device is virtual...
