Hello readers,

I am running into problems with recompiling glibc for xen with the
-mno-tls-direct-seg-refs flag. My system is a fully updates Centos 4.4 intel
machine with no hardware hypervisor, gcc version 3.4.6-3. Since I need to
use db4 (ldap, mysql) then I need to recompile glibc to my understanding to
get things running without the locking errors. So I downloaded
glibc-2.3.4-2.25.src.rpm and installed it. Compiling works perfect up to the
point that I add -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs to the BuildFlags of target ix86
in the glibc.spec file. This results in the following message:

checking whether ln -s works... yes
checking for i686-redhat-linux-gcc... gcc
checking for suffix of object files... configure: error: cannot compute
suffix of object files: cannot compile
See `config.log' for more details.
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.4094 (%build)

RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.4094 (%build)

Anybody any clues to how to solve this or where I can download a precompiled
xen-3.0.2-2 friendly glibc. Installing xen 3.0.3 failed due to mount error 6
and 2. So that is not a quick fix :(

Thanks and greetings,

Sjoerd de Heer
