My guess would be one of a couple of things.  Perhaps you have CC'ed yourself.  
But, likely you would remember that.  The other thing is that some mail clients 
copy mail based on filters.  Outlook was good for this.  If you had 2 or more 
matching filters it would copy the mail to each folder for each filter it 
matched.  Just my 2 cents.
