The situation is:

* Xen 2.0 does not support PAE, which is needed to support more than 4GB of 
physical memory.  You can have a maximum of 4GB (minus some for Xen) 
allocated to any domain and the allocations must total < 4GB.
* Xen 3.0:
  - you'll be able to use PAE so that the system can have more than 4GB total.  
Also, individual guests will be able to use more than 4GB.
  - support for x86_64 will also allow you to use large memory hosts / guests.
