I thought of the following interface in linux:

include/asm-ia64/hypercall.h:

static inline int
HYPERVISOR_opt_feature(int cmd, void *arg)
{
        struct xencomm_handle *new_arg;
        new_arg = xencomm_create_inline(arg);
        return _hypercall2(int, opt_feature, cmd, new_arg);
}

A function with the following code to set the feature:

        struct ia64_opt_feature optf;
        optf.cmd = IA64_OPT_FEATURE_IDENTITY_MAPPING;
        optf.on = IA64_OPT_FEATURE_ON;
        optf.pgprot = pgprot_val(PAGE_KERNEL);
        HYPERVISOR_opt_feature(IA64_OPT_FEATURE_IDENTITY_MAPPING, &optf);
