BTW: I slipped through this a bit too fast.

Maybe it should have better been closed as "worksforme" because many people can
shutdown their vms day in day out without having these problems.

It would be interesting to know if at least the reporter can reproduce this
problem, otherwise it's really hard to find and fix for the developers.
