Summary: kernel crash under heavy network load
           Product: Xen
           Version: 3.0.1
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux-2.6
            Status: NEW
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P1
         Component: Hypervisor
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: laxbugzilla@xxxxxxxx

I have experimented the Fedora Core 5 supplied xen package (3.0.1) and kernel
(2.6.16) on many different hardware platforms (x86_64, P4, Xeon, SMP). On
"many" (but not all) motherboards, the networking interface freezes under heavy
load - without any client domains loaded. On the latest machine (Dell dual CPU-
Dual core Xeon with hyperthreading), the kernel actually oops. The machine,
standing still, displays a load of 0.25 (completely unused machine) and can
only do light network traffic. As soon as I do anything heavier (like rsync a
4GB file to the machine), the kernel oops. The screen saver on the console has
kicked in and I can't see what the exact oops is, but I can recreate this at
will.

The same happened on an AMD x86_64 machine. I tought it was hardware failure.
But this is the 3rd machine, on brand new hardware.

I have 2 successful installations on an older P4 motherboard.

Please let me know what info I can gather to help, or how to stabilize the
machines

Thanks

- Jacques
